Imagine having a school-based general store, where children can “shop” for groceries in their recipe, followed by cooking and eating a meal, developing important life skills and food-related knowledge. This is a reality for children at the Primary School Au Millénaire near Chicoutimi in Québec. Educating children about the foods they eat, where they come from, and how to shop for and prepare them is increasingly important in complex food environments. The results of this research will inform future food-related education initiatives in schools.
