Pictured is a tractor pulling a carrot combine, prepped and ready to begin harvesting the first trial of the season, a cover crop trial in the Holland Marsh. While onions are harvested a bit earlier and are visible in the foreground, carrot harvest is late in the season and there isn't enough time for a cover crop to be established before winter. This trial investigated the use of various potential cover crops, planted both before and after harvest, in a range of seeding methods.
