Hangin’ With My Peeps

These day-old chicks will be used in an upcoming laying hen welfare trial. They will be given edible “pecking blocks” to determine whether these enrichments encourage natural foraging behaviour and reduce injurious feather pecking and feather damage.

The Office of Research oversees a $186 million research enterprise across seven colleges, our regional campus at Ridgetown, 15 research centres, and the University of Guelph/Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs Agreement.
