This photo was taken during T maze test habituation sessions in which a chick was placed into a T maze and allowed to explore. The test was conducted to determine whether maternal-fed omega-3 fatty acids can successfully increase the cognitive ability of chickens. Chickens are socially motivated and cannot recognise themselves in a mirror. Therefore, mirrors work as great social rewards.
