A larva on the graft

A honey bee larva is being grafted from a honey comb within which can be seen eggs and more larvae. The larva will be treated with different beneficial bacteria to determine how they affect larvae as they development into a queen bee. The goal of this research is to discover bacteria that can improve queen bee fitness and therefore increase the survival of honey bee colonies as a whole.
