Description
Mitacs Accelerate PhD Fellowship offers PhD students three years of funding and the opportunity to apply their specialized expertise to various research challenges. Students work closely with a partner organization and faculty supervisor, using the latest tools and techniques available to them in both academic and industrial settings. Projects are a cost shared model with Mitacs, through the support of federal and provincial government, matching the industry partners or non-for-profit (NFP) organizations dollar for dollar.
Eligibility
The student must be PhD student enrolled full time at a Canadian university; and can be a Canadian citizen, foreign student or permanent resident and must remain a student throughout the entirety of the fellowship from all disciplines: natural sciences, engineering, social sciences and humanities. Eligible NFP partners can include: Industry Associations, economic development organizations and charitable organizations. Proposals with a not-for-profit partner must seek partner eligibility approval before proceeding. Proposals with a not-for-profit partner must seek partner eligibility approval before proceeding. Funding Availability
Total grant for each PhD of $90,000 over three years. Partner organizations contribute a minimum of $36,000 over three years.

Three years; Flexible timing: Projects may begin any time before October 2015.
