Description
This call aims to select collaborating technical organizations (such as research institutes, university research and academic centers, think tanks, NGOs, science academies, and stakeholder organizations with a legal corporate registration) to oversee and deliver capacity-strengthening activities for science granting councils in sub-Saharan Africa
The 5-year initiative aims to strengthen the capacities of Science Granting Councils to support research and evidence-based policies that will contribute to economic and social development. In doing so, the initiative will help councils to:
- manage research;
- design and monitor research programs based on the use of robust science, technology, and innovation indicators;
- support knowledge exchange with the private sector; and
- establish partnerships with each other and with other science system actors.
Eligibility
This call is open to all organizations such as research institutes, university research and academic centres, think tanks, non-governmental organizations, science academies, and stakeholder organizations with a legal corporate registration. Organizations based in sub-Saharan Africa are strongly encouraged to apply. The initiative is keen to engage with organizations with a shared vision of nurturing long-term relationships among various national science system actors, including science granting councils.

Applicant organizations will be pre-qualified based on the criteria outlined in the Prospectus and supporting application documents. Successful applicant organizations will be expected to oversee and deliver capacity-strengthening activities that correspond to the initiative's objectives. These objectives will be achieved through various activities such as customized regional training courses and workshops, regional forums, online training, individualized on-site coaching, and collaborative research.
