Description
The Economics and Environmental Policy research Network (EEPRN), hosted by University of Ottawa, brings together leading researchers from across the country to study and develop innovative policies for protecting Canada’s environment while simultaneously building a stronger economic future. This project is undertaken with the financial support of the Government of Canada through the Federal Department of the Environment. The Network mobilizes over 84 scholars from Canadian universities as well as internationally. The Network builds connections and capacity, fosters greater dialogue between academics and government partners, and generates innovative, policy-relevant research.
EEPRN is seeking proposals for academic research projects in the following priority areas: Conservation (including species at risk protection); Innovation & Competitiveness; and Data Set Development and Linkages. These areas have been compiled through consultation with Environment Canada, the EEPRN Steering Committee, and stemming from the EEPRN 2014 Research Symposium. Potential applicants are encouraged to reference the website for the 2014 EEPRN Research Symposium for additional possible research proposal ideas.
Eligibility
Permanent Faculty members, Graduate students and Postdoctoral Fellows
Funding Availability
Proposals generally not exceeding $25,000 will be considered for funding. Targeted funding to support a limited number of faculty Research-Time stipends (course buy-outs) for faculty members either directly applying or agreeing to supervise a student application has been secured by the network. Faculty members are strongly advised to include a request for RTS in their application. The funding is separate and in additional to the $25,000 proposal limit.

Project Duration
One year or more, but not longer than two years. Detailed funding plans for the project by year must be included in the proposed budget, with plans to disburse annual expenses by March 31st of each relevant calendar year. Final project deliverables must be delivered by March 31, 2016 (one year); March 31, 2017 (two year).

How to Apply
Principal applicants submits proposal (4 pages) including a budget, and anticipated travel costs. All applicants are encouraged to present their research at academic conferences or workshops. Applicants are thus encouraged to include anticipated travel costs in their budget.
