Livestock Research Innovation Corporation (LRIC) is pleased to introduce our new Bridge for graduate students/post docs/industry and government staff working in the broad area of livestock research. “Broad” is meant to capture work in not only animal sciences (e.g. nutrition, health) but also in engineering, related social sciences, etc. This free program is a spin off from our highly successful mentorship program for early career faculty. The program is an opportunity for participants to learn about the challenges and opportunities in the livestock sector, connect with industry, government and other students from across disciplines.

Who is LRIC?

  • Formed in 2013 with all Ontario livestock sector organizations as members and OMAFRA as a funding partner.
  • LRIC’s role is to help create a robust future for Ontario’s livestock value chain.
  • LRIC focuses on a horizon that is 3 to 5 years out and research and innovation to create the future.
  • LRIC identifies emerging issues,cross sector and cross discipline opportunities for the livestock sector.
  • LRIC reviews Ontario’s Livestock Innovation System.
  • LRIC worke with livestock, poultry and aquaculture sectors to ensure relevant research priorities.
  • LRIC is a trusted intermediary between academia, government, and industry.

What’s involved in the Bridge?

  • Participants will have access to LRIC resources:
    • Industry introductions and overviews
    • Getting Research into Practice (GRIP) podcast series
    • Producer insights regarding GRIP
    • Horizon Series on the big issues facing the livestock industry
    • IRAC report on Ontario Livestock’s innovation system
    • Research scouts
    • LRIC Newsletter “Livestock Innovation.”
  • Through two meetings, participants will build connections and collaborations with one another, LRIC and the livestock industry.
  • We hope to build solid and long-lasting connections with participants because your success will ultimately help Ontario’s livestock sector to succeed.
