Description

Curious about working with external (private, public, not for profit) partners but not sure where to start? Have you been contacted by someone from industry looking to collaborate but aren’t sure how to manage the relationship or expectations? What resources exist on campus to help you navigate these inquiries?

On behalf of the Research Services Office (RSO) and Research Innovation Office (RIO) in partnership with the Colleges, we are pleased to host ‘Exploring External Partnerships’ sessions this spring. These sessions will provide an overview of the types of external research partners and partnership opportunities available to you, advice on managing and leveraging those partnerships and more.

We will be hosting two sessions, one focused on natural sciences and engineering (NSE) subject-related areas and one on social sciences and humanities (SSH) subject-related areas. Regardless of your area of expertise, you are welcome to join the session that works best for you and your schedule as we hope it will be just the start of external partnership conversations. Topics will include:

  • Who are we? RSO and RIO overview
  • Why collaboration and external partnerships matter
  • What makes a good partner
  • How to leverage partnerships (funding opportunities)
  • How to formalize partnerships (research agreements)
  • Best practices for maintaining partnerships

Please register for your preferred session using the links below to confirm your attendance and receive the calendar invite/meeting link. As part of registration, there is the opportunity to submit any partnership questions you may have.
