Description
Canadian Medical Hall of Fame Laureate recognizes outstanding leadership and contributions to medicine and the health sciences in Canada or abroad, and/or which have led to extraordinary improvements in human health.
Candidates' work may be a single meritorious contribution or a lifetime of superior accomplishments. Pioneers in their field, candidates are considered role models who inspire young Canadians to pursue careers in the health sciences.
You must be nominated for this award. Categories for nominations include:
- Leadership in building excellence in health for Canadians and the world;
- Leadership in health promotion, illness, prevention and care; and
- Leadership in research with national and international recognition for a scientific contribution.

Eligibility
Eligibility:
- Canadian Medical Hall of Fame Laureates are Canadian citizens whose outstanding leadership, integrity and contributions to medicine and the health sciences in Canada or abroad, have led to extraordinary improvements in human health. Laureates include worthy nominees from a variety of disciplines and from many diverse professions and roles including doctors, researchers, nurses, dentists, pharmacists, policy makers.
- Up to six individuals may be selected for induction annually; only one individual may be inducted posthumously each year.
- Organizations can serve as nominators but only individuals can be nominated.
- Nominations may remain active for up to three consecutive selection processes and may be supplemented at any time. After three years, or if notified within the three years that the nomination is not going forward, you must re-submitted if you wish for it to be further considered.
- Please help the Canadian Medical Hall of Fame increase the diversity of their Laureates through more nominations of individuals who identify as female or non-binary, and/or who are Black, Indigenous or People of Colour.

External Deadline | If your nomination will be submitted by a nominator other than the VPR, please submit directly to the sponsor using the nomination form found on the Canadian Medical Hall of Fame nomination web-page by the external deadline. Please also submit a copy of the full nomination to research.services@uoguelph.ca by the external deadline. |
How to Apply
The Vice-President (Research) encourages nominations for this prestigious award and will serve as nominator for those nominees recommended by the Honours and Awards Advisory Committee. If you wish to nominate a colleague or to be considered for VPR nomination:
- We recommend discussing your interest in this award with your College Research Manager and Associate Dean (Research).
- Complete the Expression of Interest document.
- Send the completed Expression of Interest document and a CV to ailsakay@uoguelph.ca and copy your College Research Manager by the internal deadline.

If your nomination will be submitted by a different nominee, and therefore does not require the Vice-President's endorsement, please submit a complete nomination and signed OR-5 to research.services@uoguelph.ca by the external deadline.
